Once a year, Senitrus PC will provide 5 student age 13+ with a voucher to cover up to $50,000 worth of Senitrus hardware. This could be PCs, handhelds, accessories, eInk devices, and so on. There are a few conditions for the applicant, but these will likely be simple, and easy to accomplish. The conditions are as follows:
- Require Parent’s Permission (under 18)
- Be in school within Allegheny County
- Have no negative influence with the legal system
- Have a 80% or better in grades
- Income of 150% poverty, or less
The goal of the program is to provide a student that is doing well despite the fact of circumstances that would otherwise hold them back. The student must not let the fact they are low income justify for the need to not be a positive contribution to society. The goal is to show that one can triumph, and this gift voucher will provide a small reward for the person. The person can use the voucher for anything they feel will make a positive improvement in their life, and make their education process to go more smoothly.
While I know $50,000 a year is a lot of money, I am guessing I will be able to write some or all of it off my taxes. The contest submission must be made in May, and the winners will be notified on August 15. There is no public show of display as I am not going to exploit the winners with “look at me” publicity, but I will still want to do good for the area.
