Simply put, permissions. I am not sure what the legality of a company using another company’s Linux. If for example, I got through the developers of Zorin, they might say yes one day, and the next year – no. Now my support team has to deal with support for Linux, and whatever new OS? I will have to have. I could do with Debian for everything, and I am confident that I can do that without any issues. It is Debian that Ubuntu is based on, and Zorin is based off of Ubuntu which is based off of Debian.
However, since I am selecting a Linux platform that does not seem to have any problems, I might as well make a custom OS. Yes, i could go straight with Debian, and let it be at that, but I will want something to make my name in the Linux world. Senitrus OS will have a few features that other Linux distributions will not have. The OS will be tied to my hardware, so it will not install on other hardware. There are many distributions out there, and my PCs will support most of the OSes out there. There will be a subscription of the OS, and that will be $15/month, or $150/year. Paying for 1 year will shave 2 months off the price.
One feature of Senitrus is Senitrus One. Logging in with multiple devices under the same credentials will make pairing devices, and working within a LAN? very easy. For example, and handheld and desktop with the same Senitrus credentials attached to them will allow the two devices to synch between the two. One could move photos from the phone to the Photos directory of the user. The phone can update the music playlist, and everything synchs from there. There is no complicated plugging in the device, and figure out to do everything as everything will just work.
Another feature that will attract users will be Senitrus Drive. This is like DropBox, and Apple iCloud. Basically, it is a storage pool that is provided to you, and this drive can sync with multiple devices using the same ID. The difference is the minimum is likely larger than most providers. Storage will start at 8GB? for people who don’t own a PC or handheld. 16GB will be for people that own a handheld or PC, and go up to 16TB?. Unlike OneDrive which throws a fit when you don’t want to store everything on it, Senitrus Drive is just that – another drive.
And last is the drive assignments. Each drive is given a letter from A:/ to Z:/. This allows for a maximum of 26 mounts. Every devices will have at minimum a B:/ (microSD), and C:/ (device’s OS, and applications). In a matter of fact, every device is shipped with a 64GB microSD card to assure that everyone has everything they need, however they can make a larger microSD card purchase as an option. The microSD card is not intended to get out easily. It will be as much work as ejecting a storage tray with a tray eject tool. As mentioned, C:/ is the OS, and applications. Nowadays, almost everything that you interact with will have an OS. SmartTVs have an OS, your coffee maker (unless smart) likely does not. Anything a microSD card will plug into will have an OS. The drives are as follows:
- A:/ SD Card Reader
- B:/ microSD Card Slot
- C:/ OS and Applications
- D:/ Personal Files Drive (Computers)
- E:/ Senitrus Drive
On computers, C:/, and D:/ is always mounted. This is because the drives are soldered to the motherboard. A:/ mounts when you insert an SD Card, and B:/ mounts when you insert the microSD Card (which you should do). Different partitions are also an issue. If you go against my recommendation, and install Windows, alongside with Senitrus OS, then you would have C.1:/ for the first partition, and C.2:/ for the second partition. In Windows, the Windows OS is on C:\, and the second partition can’t be read. Another example is if you wanted to create 2 partitions on your microSD Card, then the assignments is B.1:/, and B.2:/. This might seem a little confusing, but this is the best way to deal with partitions, and most people only have one partition on their drives. Senitrus Drive can not be partitioned.
